Steve and Julie Wigley
Steve and Julie Wigley are a Derby duo, who have been singing together for many years, performing mainly original songs written by Julie, a prolific songwriter. Many of the songs reflect stories of their home town and county.
They are regulars at Burton Folk Club and also enjoy travelling to clubs much further afield.
They will be performing at Moira Furnace Festival in August and at Derby Folk Festival in October.
They have been finalists in BBC Song for Lincolnshire and the John Birmingham Cup and have now recorded seven albums of Julie’s songs’.
The latest, ‘At the Passing of the Storm’ features songs written during the Lockdown year.
They are also members of Stonesthrow, together with Tony Fowkes, performing mainly acapella traditional and contemporary songs.
Monkwood – Kathryn Wheeler and Andrew Rothery
Kathryn and Andrew were the support act at Folk in the Foyer a couple of years ago and have now been welcomed back to Bromyard as part of the double bill on 11th February 2022.
Both are talented local musicians who have played in a variety of different bands and groups over the years. Their music is inspired by the folk tradition and their repertoire knows few boundaries, covering a wide range of songs and instrumental music both traditional and contemporary, together with many of their own compositions. They have great fun developing playful, creative arrangements leading to enjoyable and original performances.
Andrew is an experienced accordionist. Kathryn is multitalented, an accomplished vocalist, and plays concertina, fiddle, accordion, and even pipe and tabor.
